Digital twins have become everyday terms in various industries such as manufcturing, transportation, buildings, and energy.
The "Digital Twin" is a digital replica of the real world. By turning the real world into twin virtual objects in the virtual world, it is possible to predict situations or consequences that may occur in the real world through simulation.
Germany and Singapore are actively promoting digital twin-related policies for digital transformation of major industries and infrastructure, and in Korea, it was selected as a key technology that determines future national competitiveness through the Korean version of the New Deal in 2020.
TIM Solution provides a Digital Twin solution applicable to the entire industry. This is to facilitate the complex data management and information acquisition process of the industry.
In particular, as they realized that Digital Twins were the most necessary technology for the manufacturing industry, they focused on providing Digital Twin solutions for the intelligence of the manufacturing industry.
CEO Kim Jee-in realized that there has been no customer without a platform since the business stareted, but rather a problem because there are too many platforms. "It has become more difficult to manage because various platforms are already available in the market, such as the Internet of Things (IoT), facilities, and other data," She said. "I thought it would be convenient to integrate these platforms.”
"Digital Twins will be the core technology of integrated visualization," She said. "The goal is to become a 'platform above the platform' that connects various platforms of customer companies."
"TIM Solution" was established at the end of 2017 by gathering developers around CEO Kim Jee-in and Chief Technology Officer (CTO), who has years of experience in industrial sites such as heavy industry, automobiles, and plants.
The CTO starts TIM Solution. When he worked for a heavy industry company, he was in charge of checking the work status every day and instructing workers. However, it is said that the information to be checked was distributed in different systems, so it took too much time to work. At that time, the CTO visualized the distributed information using a 3D game engine, displayed process status and work allocation, shared it with employees, and was able to deliver the information easily and faster than before.
CEO Kim Jee-in said. "It was an unprecedented case of using a game engine as an industrial solution when it was founded." "Now, it is common to use game engines and other graphic engines for industrial solutions," She explained.
‘TIM Flow’, the Digital Twin platform launched by TIM Solution in February last year, helps users build Digital Twins freely through the web browser. Unlike other Digital Twin services, users can build their own digital environment and manage changes with the TIM Flow. At the same time, time and cost for DX can be reduced.
CEO Kim said that the biggest competitiveness of the TIM Solution is that their creative solution that using game engines and refleting field-related knowledge.
She added that they can understand the needs and problems of customers and find appropriate solutions from various perspectives.
CEO Kim said, "There are many companies seeking digital twins, but there are not as many cases of applying it to the actual field as expected," and emphasized, "TIM Solution focused on upgrading the solution by consistantly implementing to the customer site.”
Recently, the company is continuing to expand its business and advance its technology by launching "DXE Translator.”
DXE Translator is one of modules of TIM Flow and is a software that converts industrial design(3D CAD) data into 3D models for digital twins.
It also supports digital twins for various purposes such as 3D content creation, operation, and simulation through "Structural Lightweight Technology" and "Mesh Lightweight Technology.”
In addition, it is a solution with GUI (Graphic User Interface) and can be easily used by people without programming expertise. It also provides a variety of user experiences by converting 40 CAD formats and universal file extensions such as *.fbx and *.step. to digital tiwn models.
Meanwhile, the core purpose of the solution is 'customer satisfaction' and 'problem solving'. For this reason, CEO Kim said that she seeks customer satisfaction through communication and maintenance processes. Since their solution focused on practical work rather than graphic precision, they got positive reviews from customers, such as "It is suitable for the manufactruing field" and "It meets the DX purpose and needs.”
They also steadily continuing to expand partner relations. Unity has been marketing partner since 2019 and TIm Solution recently has joined the 'Digital Twin Alliance' launched by SK Telecom.
